No on likes to fail. Many of us dislike it so much that we do not try things we think we may fail at. Accepting the fact that you might fail or did fail is difficult to do. Even more difficult is moving forward and attempting the thing you just failed at. Analyzing what went wrong, changing your plan of attack and choosing to try again is essential to success. It is ok to fail. It is not ok to give up because of one failure.
I could fill this blog with quotes about perseverance, stories of famous people who failed more times than they want to count, but what good would that do for us? At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal responsibility. What are you going to do the next time you miss a lift, the next time you are faced with pull-ups, the next time you have to overhead squat?
Luckily for you, the gym is a fantastic place to fail. Your coaches will never get mad at you if you fail. We only get upset if you don’t try.
So try. And fail. Then try again.
Submit yourself to the process, accept that failing is part of the process, part of the learning. You will be that much stronger as a human.
